The word “potter” in Hebrew is derived from the verb “to form” or “to create”. So a potter is someone who creates form out of formlessness using simple material such as clay. The metaphor of clay in the potter’s hands describes a complex relationship where God is the potter and we are the clay. God forms and shapes us as God pleases, but in such a process, we continue to remain in God’s strong and good hands.
講道大綱:
「窯匠」一詞在希伯來文裏是取意於動詞「成形」或「創造」。窯匠是一個用平凡的材料像是沒有形狀的黏土來創造形狀的人.在窯匠手中的黏土比喻描述上帝是窯匠，我們是黏土的複雜關係。上帝按照祂的高興來捏形狀整形，但是在這過程當中，我們仍然繼續在上帝強壯且善良的手中。

我們都在上帝的手中
2. We are still in God’s hand.
我們仍在上帝的手中
3. God can and does change his mind, even as we remain in God’s hand.
上帝可以，也會改變祂的意，即使是我們留在上帝的手中
4. It is good to be in God’s hand.
